A imagem, tirada na Sala de Audiências do Palácio de Buckingham, é da autoria do fotógrafo escocês Harry Benson.
O artista sentiu-se honrado pelo privilégio de retratar a soberana e revelou que teve a possibilidade de escolher a cor do vestido que a rainha usou para esta fotografia.

Benson said he had first taken a photograph of the Queen in 1957 but said the new photograph was “truly a highlight of my career”.
In the image, the Queen is dressed in violet and wearing a gold and diamond brooch featuring thistles, the national emblem of Scotland.
He explained he chose the colour and dress the Queen would wear for the portrait, and added: “My teachers at the Eastwood School in Glasgow would be amazed.”
In the portrait, the Queen is looking out of the window with a slight smile, close to sheer curtains.
